The Hands · Why it's special

Made by people we can name.

Sewn by Raquel and the seamstresses around her home studio in Miranda. Textiles from Andean weaving families. Buttons carved from Amazon Tagua by Amada. Every piece took days, not minutes — because a person made it by hand.

Where it's made

One country. Three crafts. One name on the label.

Everything we make is born in the Ecuadorian Andes — sewn in Miranda, woven near Otavalo, buttoned with Tagua carved outside Quito. Designed between Quito and Brooklyn, and signed by the person who made it.

Miranda sewing · Raquel's home-studio network
Peguche weaving · the Lema family looms
Quito Tagua buttons · Amada's workshop
Since 2017 fair wages · small batches · family workshops
Signed work

Every piece leaves with its maker's name inside.

Fashion has a habit of making the hands disappear. We do the opposite: the label inside credits the artisan who made it — because a signed piece of work is a different kind of object. When you hand it down, the name goes with it.

Flip the collar of any Remu piece and you'll find one.

The quality of the Fogata Wool jacket is paramount here. It's incredibly soft and breathable, yet warm enough for the cooling weather here in NY. Very happy with the purchase!

Beautiful wool jacket

It is a really beautiful wool jacket, and they even customized it for me by removing the pockets. The wool is a little scratchy, so I would not recommend it to people who are sensitive to wool on their skin.

Hot

Like sexy, like makes your partner look like a million bucks. When you lean your head he turns into an amazing pillow because it feels like a cloud.

Took a chance... was blown away

I came across Remu Apparel on an Instagram Ad (which I typically ignore)... I was a bit skeptical, but I loved the story behind their brand, and their products themselves. I'm glad I took a chance!

This overshirt is perfect for fall/spring weather; or winter if you wear it as a layer. The fit is great and I love the color. Thanks to Anita, for handcrafting my shirt!
